Giovanni Balderi

When Giovanni Balderi begins to sculpt, he faces the marble block in its nakedness and crudeness as a living material in which to discover the soul. He feels this material as a metamorphosis in progress, he rediscovers unusual sensations, he suggests tactile perceptions as if to make the vital spirit, the emotional breath, emerge from the "body" of the material.

"A certain reference is the body - says the artist - always the voice of a need to tell human and divine paths, where feeling shows itself in eternal works, like questions. Mine wants to be a body that is silent, that stands aside, lets the soul speak, the energy that inhabits it, dominates it, makes it live, gives it form, expression, everything that distinguishes the dialogue of life in its mysterious paths?"

What characterizes his work is the immediate impact with the mineral, as if to establish a dialogic comparison with it from which the will to feel the marble transpires, to listen to and express its voice, and so through continuous changes of the work in its making, as if inspired and stimulated by the material itself to make ex - abrupto changes, to extract emotions from within, from the heart of the rock block and of the human being, one as a mirror of the other.

His love for marble, "which in the immediacy of the work shows its physicality, to be followed, respected and sometimes challenged", does not linger, however, in descriptive preciosities, his desire to establish an empathic contact does not lean towards virtuosic complacency, on the contrary an affective bond is generated, a harmonious fusion such as to be able to perceive the very sensuality of the material - body. Sometimes the latter almost takes on the appearance of female nudity, with hints that refer to the velvety softness of human skin alternating with completely rough parts, deliberately sectioned, carved, left free by the artist, like a laying bare of the self, of moods, suggestions, states of mind, but also of energy, of the primordial strength that are reflected in the material from which the substance is drawn, gradually removing its wrapping, to reach the most intimate essence.

Accessibility Information

Together with our selected providers, we are committed to ensuring that our services are accessible to people with disabilities. We devote significant resources to ensure that our website and room booking pages are easier to use and more accessible for individuals with disabilities, based on the strong belief that everyone has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort, and independence.

Along with our partners, we continuously strive to improve the accessibility of our website and the pages for booking rooms and/or purchasing additional products and services related to the stay. We firmly believe it is our collective moral obligation to allow seamless, accessible, and unhindered use, even for those of us with disabilities.

In our ongoing efforts to improve and consistently address accessibility issues, we regularly scan all web pages using accessibility scanners provided by third-party commercial partners to identify and fix any potential accessibility barriers on our site. Despite our efforts to make all our web pages and content fully accessible, some content may not yet have been fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. This may be due to not having yet found or implemented the most appropriate technological solution.
